The Helle Glass collection is a new in-depth research on materiality. Liu is always interested in molten glass. She accumulated a rich understanding of glass making at the Rochester Institute of Technology. Liu challenges producing glass sculptures at the furniture scale which is rarely seen. The process includes romantic persistence of the craft, critical skills, and patience. Made in NYC.
The Helle collection was inspired by Liu’s sailing experience in New York over the past few years. It is named after the Hell Gate Bridge in the East River of New York. The strait derives its name from the Dutch word “Hellegat”, which means “bright strait”. It
was named by Dutch trader and explorer, Adriaen Block in 1614 after he sailed his newly
constructed ship through the water and into the Long
Island Sound. The Helle collection was released in 2021 and won ICFF Editors Awards and NYCxDesign Awards.
A Painter’s Room was a collaborative immersive environment. It is an ideology of live-work space for a painter. The collection includes bedroom furniture and a desk. It was scheduled to show at the Architectual Digest Show in March 2020. Later released online due to the pandemic show cancellation.
The Feast collection debuted at the International Contemporary Furniture Fair (ICFF) in New York City in 2017. Sharing food with love is an important value for Bowen Liu. This collection focuses on enhancing the group dining experience. It elevates the gesture of hospitality.

ōkta
Mcminnville, OR
The Feast armchairs with custom leather seats for the dining room of ōkta. Led by Chef Matthew Lightner, the former chef at two-Michelin-starred Atera in New York, ōkta is an intimate restaurant that has a dedicated farm a few miles away, and often what lands on the plate is whatever seemed to thrive that morning, whatever survived the night. Each meal is a highly specific and unique expression of a very brief period of time on that land.
